Slavery In General
In the American South land, slavery was the richest profit, which turned the southland into the most powerful region of America until the Civil War destroyed it.
Modern day slave owners try to avoid using the word slavery; instead, they use words like: servitude, forced labor, or human trafficking.
The values of slaves have decreased. A slave during the 1800s would have cost $40,000 today but they now cost only $90.
During the time period of 1816-1860, 20% of the population of the U.S. was black. While 90% of the 20% were slaves.
27 million slaves are in the world today.

Not all slaves worked in the fields. Some slaves worked in the house as servants. It was better to work in the house than outside because of the weather conditions.
Human trafficking, the trading of humans, is the world’s third largest crime.


When human trafficking, 54% of the suspects are strangers while 46% know their victims almost like a minor friend.


People that cannot think for them are considered slaves because they follow other people and not make their own decisions for themselves.


85% of the people that are trafficked are women and children.
